Oman National Day - November 2009

altThe 39th National Day for the Sultanate of Oman was celebrated on Wednesday 19th November 2009 at the Hotel Windsor, Melbourne.More than 250 people attended the event from all parts of the Australian community.

 

The guests were welcomed into the Grand Ballroom at the Hotel Windsor by H.E the Consul-General, Mr Hamed Al-Hajri and his wife Mrs Al Hajri. Later in the evening the National anthems of both Oman and Australia were wonderfully sang by soprano Ursula Paez and speeches were presented by the Consul-General and the guest of honor who was representing the Premier of Victoria the Hon Martin Pakula Minister for industry and trade and industrial relations.


Guests were able to sample traditional Omani coffee and sweets served by the Omani students whilst listening to a traditional lute being played in the background. On display for guests to view were 20 comparative pictures highlighting the developments of Oman throughout the past 39 years.
The night ended fruitfully and an entertaining evening was had by all.
