As part of the increasing efforts to build cultural relations, Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Culture brought to Australia for the first time a unique cultural exhibition. From Monday 26th September through until Thursday 29th of September 2011 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour the public freely viewed the authentic traditions, arts and heritage of Oman.

An Oman Corner, designed to educate University of Melbourne students and visitors about the life and culture of Oman, was launched in early August by the Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services, Hon. Laurie Ferguson MP and Dr Abdullah al Sarmi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman. Funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, the Oman Corner is a permanent museum-style showcase intended to stimulate interest in Oman and increase academic collaboration.
