GCC education meet reviews new innovations in online education- The ministers of education in the member states of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf held the 6th consultation meeting yesterday at Barr al Jissah.
The agenda included educational issues such as e-learning. There were seven presentations about e-learning in Gulf states. The GCC ministers exchanged their states’ experiences, future plans and projects in this area.
The sixth ministerial meeting of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf states reviewed the progress achieved in online education.
Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education in her address said the world witnessed revolution in IT and rapid economical, educational and social changes. “Though, our countries should move in a parallel line to develop the educational system. That includes enhancing the holistic system to develop the learning outcomes and qualify them based on the needs of academic demands and the rapid challenges in the current market.”
Dr Shaibaniyah added that the Sultanate achieved a distinguished progress in this term via its educational portal that is a part of e.Oman strategy based on the directives of His Majesty.
UAE Minister of Education, Humaid al Qatami, head of the 21st general conference said in his address that an essential need is to strengthen co-operation between the member states. One of them is exchanging our experiences in online education as long as our states achieved a significant progress in such type of education.
Each minister said in our states we have our own experiment we need to present and deal with.
The Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf states, Dr Ali al Karni pointed out that six countries including Yemen discussed in the conference the essential needs of e.learning particularly new concepts that deal with such needs.
He also unveiled three pioneering projects will be brought out by the bureau.
One of them relates to increasing media cultural awareness including being very selective on what has been broadcasted in TV channels.
The second project relates to the future contract that will train and qualify educators in the GCC to enable them to get an international licence for e.learning. He said the contract will be signed in the future with an international institution.
The third project prepares training sessions and seminars in every country member to increase e.learning cultural awareness.
The MoE presented a paper on the educational portal presented by Khalid Sulaiman al Siyabi, Director-General of IT, MoE. He also indicated the vital progress achieved by MoE in providing electronic access.
