Oman extends cultural invitation to Australians - Australians will gain fascinating insight into Middle Eastern culture during a free four day Omani cultural event at Sydney’s Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 26th -29th of September, with the promotional campaign beginning today with the launch of the event’s website.

The website for the Oman Cultural Days www.omanculturaldays.com.au, launched today by the Minister for Citizenship and Communities and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Hon. Victor Dominello MP, highlights the start of a campaign designed to not only promote the large-scale event but to start the conversation about the captivating culture of Oman.

The Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr Hamed Al-Hajri, hopes that the Oman Cultural Days will educate Australians on the uniqueness and wealth of beauty that the Sultanate of Oman has to offer. “The Oman Cultural Days are intended to be a forum for cultural exchange between Australia and Oman. We hope to share our rich cultural heritage with Australians in an entertaining and engaging format.”

“Although Oman is a progressive, modern country, the Omani people have consciously maintained their rich cultural heritage passing the incredible art, culture, folklore and craftsmanship from one generation to the next. The event will showcase this incredible heritage and foster understanding amongst the broader Australian population” Mr Al-Hajri said.

Similar Oman Cultural Days have previously been held successfully the world over. In Tokyo and Rome attendees were able to view stunning cultural photos, paintings and book exhibitions, beautiful Omani fashion and jewellery displays, listen to live folklaw band performances, live craft demonstrations and sight exquisite Omani artefacts.

The Oman Cultural Days will be free to attend and will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from the 26 – 29 September 2011. For more information visit www.omanculturaldays.com.au
