Exports of oil up 5.9% -The Sultanate’s total exports of crude oil stood at 38,221.80 million barrels during the first two months of 2009, against 36,108.10 million barrels during the same period of 2008, constituting a 5.9 per cent rise. 18/4/2009 Times of Oman The monthly statistical bulletin published by the Ministry of National Economy showed that the Sultanate’s total production of crude and condensates stood at 46,013.30 million barrels during January and February of 2009, against 44,108.30 million barrels during the same period in 2008, constituting a 4.3 per cent rise. Daily production The average daily production stood at 779.9 barrels by the end of February against 731.5 barrels during the same month in 2008, constituting a 6.1 per cent rise. The bulletin said that the average price per barrel of Omani oil declined by 47.9 per cent by the end of February 2009 to $45.25, against $86.78 per barrel during the same period in 2008. China topped the countries importing Omani oil as it imported 12,266.90 million barrels during the months of January and February, against 18,016.60 million barrels during the same period in 2008, constituting a 31.9 per cent decline. Korea came second as it imported 8,071.60 million barrels during the months of January and February 2009, against 2,853.10 million barrels, constituting a 182.9 per cent rise. Thailand came third as it imported 5,492.2 million barrels, against 6,027.7 million barrels during the same period in 2008, constituting an 8.9 per cent decline. The Sultanate’s production of natural gas stood at 170,867 million cubic feet (mcf) by the end of February this year against 172,408 (mcf) during the same period in 2008, constituting 0.9 per cent decline. Gas consumption stood at 170,764 mcf by the end of February against 172,408 mcf during the same period in 2008, constituting a one per cent decline. |
